w/o live trace it's not nearly as much fun.
really? ... I've been tossing up whether to upgrade for a long time. Y'all think that live trace is that much of a beneficial/main tool?
arigato 2008.06.13, 10:15AM —
cs3 is the best illustrator upgrade EVER. Live objects, esp. live fill & live trace have literally halved my work time. Live color & color guides are a great tool. The new eraser tool kicks butt. The new interface is much more user friendly. Then again, I work in the garment industry creating art for screen prints, fixing logos for embroideries, making knit pattern grids, that kind of thing... mileage may vary depending on usage.

cheers ari, what you're saying makes sense from a work pov. I'd prefer to hear from someone who uses it all the time

i mostly use live trace for stylising photographs into sketch-type artwork, or assisting in separation of supplied images into fewer colours, then pulling those out individually, again for screening or such.
like ari says, it absolutely nukes the time is used to take to do that sort of shit.
incidentally, this match is great. i might pop my 12s cherry and jump in a round at some point if no-one objects.....

once again, hearing it from the people that use it everyday was the type of  I was hoping for - thanks for that.

yes it is. It's a great idea and a fresh change, as well as a chance to use a diff set of skills!

I know that feeling. How do we want to do this. I play off DB's entry, or just make a free for all?
Doesn't matter to me, just curious.
arigato 2008.06.15, 02:02PM —
ahem.
Free for all is probably better, that way we don't get caught up waiting for sequence of play. I say if you want the round, just call it.
daddybunchie 2008.06.15, 08:17PM —
fuck it, i could play around forever and not be happy. got to pop yer cherry sometime. don't know if i've got the right idea or not, but it was fun to have a play around with.
