Oh, I give up!
FWIW, the bear's hat is the watch band from the previous volley.

lmfhao - don't scare me so!
I wasn't expecting a return in the near future and have just accepted delivery of 3 pallets of pavers so that I'll have something to do for the next few days/weeks.
nice work maestro, it's given me an idea to chew on while I think of how to execute it.

perhaps I should go a few rounds with you MC - everyone else seems to become caught up with work once they start battling here with you.

I've been quite busy lately - apologies for the slow return MC. I'd applied for just under 90 job vacancies over the nearly 3 months I was in semi-retirement and finally signed off on one that I was happy with last week. While I was out of work I kept to a routine that averaged about 3hr/day, 24/7 trolling for work. The whole searching, researching, applying, interviewing process was an experience in itself. I now have a few stories to tell about all that.
..anyhoo, what I'm looking for is a tuit for applying a gradient mesh/map? You know the sort like when you want to overlay a flag over another image so that the flag follows the contours of the other image. I'd like to do it with text though and recall that Walt had a good one using @@@'s as the overlay. I'm stuffed if I can find it though. I'd like to use it for my next volley.

that's what my daughter suggested as well. I'm thinking more like being able to drape a flag over a face and being able to have the face shape still visible ... skinning?

sorry, I had a tut for displacement maps long ago...
spent some time looking, I would have to find the old page and hunt down the old links if they are still around...

yes! You're both great, thanks.
Now that I know what it's called I can look up some other examples/example tuits. I'm hoping to have something back on the w/end MC

might be of some help... just happened to stumble onto this

Thanks for those links, it's very much appreciated. After all that it didn't quite turn out the way I wanted but still effective none the less.
It might be a bit hard to tell right away but it's supposed to be a bowl of soup - alphabet soup!

well done... the displacement map was always tricky
very much worth the effort to learn and practice—lots of points for that
tenPlus 2009.10.12, 12:57PM —
thanks Walt for the positive comment It was fun to learn again and even though it took me a few times to get a half decent effect, was an enjoyable experience.
It just occurred to me that I should've done the displacement with p's only instead of the whole alphabet and called it p-soup!

nice play none the less MC, the owl is clever!
I'm going to have the same problem though as far as where to go with it
